Whiteboard Animation - That can boost your business
What is Whiteboard Animation?
Whiteboard animation is a process where a creative story and storyboard with pictures is drawn on a whiteboard (or something that resembles a whiteboard) by artists who record themselves in the process of their artwork. It is used in TV and internet advertising to communicate messages in a "unique" way.
Terminological meaning : The term "whiteboard animation" comes from the process of someone drawing on a whiteboard and recording it. The actual effect is a time-lapse, or sometimes stop-motion. Actual animation is rarely used but has been incorporated. Other terms are "video scribing" and "animated doodling". These video animation styles are now seen in many variations, and have taken a turn into many other animation styles. With the introduction of software to create the whiteboard animations, the process has many different manifestations of varying quality.
Costs
Like other video formats, whiteboard animation costs have a number of different factors. Everything from total animation time, the complexity of the characters used, to the location of your animator will affect the total cost of your video. At Video Brewery, we recommend a minimum budget of $1,500. This will ensure a standard of production that will benefit your brand and your attraction to potential customers.Cost is no different from other styles and will be based on the video length and deliverables (script, voice over, etc). The project will be started with a script, and the creative usually provides a mock-up drawing (or sample drawing) before diving deeper into creating the full storyboard .
Dynamic whiteboard enables applying expensive animation methods (only where it is really necessary) while keeping costs down by basically using the classic whiteboard animation. For example, this style may incorporate moving/talking characters, motion graphics, 3D animation or any other animation approach .Costs can increase with the use of 'dynamic whiteboard animation'. This style combines the classic whiteboard animation with motions/animations.
Timeline
Whiteboard animations go through the same 6 stages of production as all animations. Once the script and style frames are complete, your whiteboard animation video will need a storyboard. This will take approximately 4-6 days to complete for every minute of video produced. After this, your creative animates the storyboard (5 - 10 days). You can expect this project to take longer to complete depending on how many revisions to the design is required. From the start of your project, it’s important to communicate your vision to your creative as precisely as possible. With both of you understanding the desired feel of the video, fewer revisions will be needed - meaning your video will be ready much quicker!
Uses
Whiteboard animations are synonymous with explaining difficult concepts in an easy to understand fashion.
Our experts were able to shed light on why this is:
We, of course, remember how our teacher drew the solar system on the whiteboard back in the school days - our minds have been taught how to learn the difficult material in this manner, so it’s no surprise to see that Whiteboard Animation can help in explaining the complicated material.
Whiteboard animation shouldn’t be confined to videos explaining difficult concepts. Simply put, this style is memorable.

Disadvantages
Every style has its limitations and with Whiteboard Animation we see 2 main disadvantages. The first disadvantage can be its simplicity. It cannot compete in wow factor when compared to the likes of 3D animation or a full live action explainer, for example.
Huge companies may also find it not compliant with their brand books, while smaller companies may consider this style as something “different” from their website, logo, etc.
The other main disadvantage is the amount of bad whiteboard animations that have been created. A whiteboard animation can be pretty easy to produce and there are many cheaper options available. As a result, you need to be very conscious of quality when selecting your whiteboard animator (evaluate writing ability, look for animations that have consistent characters).
Having said that, a whiteboard animation could be the perfect start for your company to introduce video into your marketing strategy. It’s eye-catching, engaging, and can be produced quickly with minimal costs. It could be an ideal ice-breaker for your customers.
You can take any aspect, product, or service from your business and portray it in a fun informational whiteboard video. Whiteboard videos can help you generate business, train your employees or explain services to customers. An all around win-win!
